Greetings, fellow Propellant Development Team (PDT) members
I"m sure you've all read over the document describing the proposed
propellant casting schemes with the comments included:
http://www.sugarshot.org/downloads/ssts_propellant-schemes.pdf
We now have to decide which (if any) of the schemes are worthwhile for
final consideration. I'd suggest we pick the two most promising schemes,
and then make a plan as to how we can refine the concepts and do
whatever investigations/experimentation that is necessary. Once we've
completed such investigations, we can hopefully make a final decision
then start detail design, construction & testing.
On a related matter, there are several propellant-related investigations
that we need to undertake. I've detailed these in a document which may
be downloaded here:
http://www.sugarshot.org/downloads/pdt_investigations.pdf
I'm sure I've missed some things so please make suggestions and we can
update the document.
Since there is quite a lot of work to be done over the next short
while, all members of the PDT need to get involved and choose one or
more issues to investigate.
I've cc'd the ss-main list, as I am sure there are others beside the PDT
members that would wish to lend a hand doing these investigations in a
timely manner. It won't be that long before work on the "short-stack"
motor is begun, and the propellant issues must be resolved before then.
A lot of very interesting and unique undertakings are in store for
us....thanks in advance for your cooperation!
Richard
